BENEFITS OF GRASS-FED PRODUCTS

HEALTHIER PRODUCTS

Lower fat levels than meat and dairy products from grain-fed animals and are also lower in saturated fat content.

Have a higher level of omega-3 fatty acids and a lower, more balanced (and healthier) ratio of omega-6: omega-3 fatty acids Significantly higher levels of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) than meat and dairy products in cereal-fed animals and higher levels of vaccine acid, which can be converted to CLA.

Higher levels of vitamins and minerals than meat and dairy products from grain-fed animals.

They are particularly rich in vitamins A and E and in minerals such as calcium, magnesium and potassium.

TASTE BETTER!

As most chefs will tell you, the main source of flavor for all meat comes from fat. It doesn't take much fat to add flavor, but without fat, there is NO flavor.

And the diet of animals has a huge impact on the micronutrients found in fat. A diet rich in fresh pasture plants will simply have a different nutritional profile compared to a diet rich in cereals, hay and silage. This changes which micronutrients will be found in the fat, which in turn changes the taste.

The meat and dairy products of animals fed exclusively on pasture all their lives constantly receive very positive feedback from consumers, for exceptional taste, aroma and texture.

ANIMAL WELFARE

Animals raised on pastures are given the freedom to express their normal behaviors and often live in family groups. They feed on a natural diet of herbs and fodder, such as hay in winter. She is less likely to suffer from disease and requires less veterinary care or antibiotics.

The certification standards that our farmers must follow to use the Grass-Fed mark in their marketing have been developed to ensure that animal welfare is equal to the top insurance systems in the EU.

GRASS-EDF IMPACT
  • Grass-Fed is better for animals:

Scientific research shows that animals fed on pastures are less stressed, live longer and are more fertile than those raised intensively.

  • High quality meat and milk

Grass-fed animal products are healthier for humans than grain-fed cattle and sheep products.

  • Good for the environment

Grass-Fed farms have a positive carbon footprint - putting nutrients back into the soil rather than depleting them. They also support wild animals.

MORE ECOLOGICAL FARMS

The carbon footprint of Grass-Fed farms is significantly lower than that of farms where grain crops are grown for animal feed. Meadows help capture and store carbon so that less is released into the air to damage the atmosphere. Grazing animals return nutrients and organic matter back to the soil, ensuring that the soil remains healthy and fertile.

Farmers over-seed pastures with legumes such as white and red clover, which help other herbs and plants grow without the need for chemical-based fertilizers, which can make the soil acidic and unhealthy, are expensive and made from non-renewable energy sources. Grass-Fed farms are wildlife friendly, including many flowers, insects, birds and mammals.

GRASS-FED: A SOLUTION AGAINST GLOBAL WARMING

Why are cattle and sheep fed on pasture a better choice for the environment?

Cattle and sheep can turn grass and other plants that humans cannot eat into meat and milk. Two-thirds of the world's cultivated land is pasture, so it makes sense to graze cattle and sheep on pasture, rather than feed them on grain grown on agricultural land. There is growing evidence that well-managed soils that use grazing animals can help mitigate global warming.

Farmers who raise their animals on a 100% grass / pasture diet can improve soil fertility and productivity by managing pasture and returning animal fertilizers to the soil. It also captures carbon in their soils. The effects of drought and flooding are also reduced, as the roots of a diverse pasture grow deeply, improving soil structure and water retention.
